Daecheongbong is the peak of Seoraksan (Mt.). Daecheongbong is the third highest peak in South Korea at 1,708m, following Baeknokdam of Hallasan (Mt.) and Cheonwangbong of Jirisan (Mt.). Due to its extreme climatic range, strong winds and low temperature, it is carpeted with creeping pine colonies, thus offering a panoramic view of the entire national park and the East Sea.

Plants of the Cyperaceae family always lay down because of the wind and that’s why people say that Yongneup Swamp of Daemsan (Mt.) looks like a grass football field from afar. Yongneup’s name means that it is a place where the dragon takes a rest before ascending into the heavens and it is the only plateau marsh plain in Korea.
