Inje’s diverse cultural experience center where visitors can meet poets and literary persons that represent Inje! Experience the diverse history and cultures of Naeseorak Inje at the Yeocho Calligraphy Museum that offers relics on Manhae Han Yong-woon who is the representative poet of Korean literary history, Park In-hwan who is the eteranal young poet and the father of Korean modernism, and Yeocho Kim Eung-hyeon who was recognized as the greatest master of modern Korean calligraphy.

Park In-hwan dropped out of college after liberation of Korea and returned to Seoul with just 50,000 KRW and purchased the book store run by poet Oh Jang-hwang and opened ‘Marie Bookstore’. Marie Bookstore contained the works, literary magazines and art books, etc. of various authors and it was a place frequently visited by poets and novelists, and it was the place where the Korean modernism movement first began. The first floor of the museum was organized in a minimal fashion like a drama set for the streets around ‘Marie Bookstore’ in Myeongdong, Seoul, and it is filled with various attractions.

‘Oh, my love has gone...’ The spirit and soul of Manhae Han Yong-woon can be found all around Manhae Village. This is a space to remember the Buddhist beliefs and literary spirit of Manhae Han Yong-woon who was a high Buddhist priest, poet and national movement activist during the Japanese Occupation. There are fish living in the pond in Manhae Village and thanks to the benches smartly arranged throughout the area, you can walk around Manhae Village as if taking an easy walk.

The works of Yeocho Kim Eung-hyeon, who was known to be the greatest calligrapher of his time, are on display at Yeocho Calligraphy Museum. It boasts outstanding architectural beauty winning the ‘Korea Architectural Culture Award’ in 2012 and it was also selected as ‘Best 7 Architectural Works of 2012’ for contributing to the development of Korea’s social architectural culture. The Yeocho Calligraphy Museum building stands beautifully as if to prove its worth for such awards.
